Etimología

Del inglés medio noyse, noise, del francés antiguo noise ("una disputa, riña, alboroto"), de origen incierto. Según algunos, del latín nausia ("disgusto", "nausea"); según otros, del latín noxia ('daño'); pero ninguna explicación es satisfactoria en lo que respecta ya sea a la forma o al sentido.
