Etimología
[editar]Del francés antiguo desconfit, pasado participio de desconfire, del prefijo des- y confire, a su vez del latín dis- y conficere, de cōnficiō, del prefijo con- y faciō ('hacer'), del protoitálico *fak-i-, y este del protoindoeuropeo *dʰeh₁- ('poner'), *dʰh₁-k- ('hacer').[1]
Su significado de 'avergonzar' y 'desconcertar' vino de la confusión con el inconexo discomfort.[2]
